Alphabet Soup Race is just 11 days away

The 13th Annual Alphabet Soup Race is just 11 days away. The Soup will come to a boil on Friday, June 27 as drivers from the Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA), the Cornbelt Clash (CBC) and the MARS DIRTcar Series collide at I-80 Speedway. As the three series are racing at the Liberty 50 the following night and the CBC and MARS will be at the newly reopened Park Jefferson Speedway on Thursday, June 26 you can anticipate a strong field of Super Late Models.

Last year, former USMTS Modified National Champion Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa posted an impressive win at the Soup Race. That earned him a provisional into the Silver Dollar National which he ended up using. He started 34
th against the best in the national and had the lead by lap 47 only to tangle with a lapped car a short time later.

Other drivers expected to be at the Soup Race and racing for the $3,700 top prize include; Tony Jackson, Jr. (last years MARS and MLRA Champion), Terry Phillips, (a many time winner at I-80 Speedway), Chad Simpson (the four-time CBC Champion), Jesse Stovall, the Eckrich Brothers, Omaha’s John Anderson (a three-time MLRA Champion) and a host of other Super Late Model drivers.

Also racing on the Soup night will be the Nebraska 360 Sprint Cars, unsanctioned Grand Nationals and unsanctioned Hornets. Pit Gate opens at 4pm, Grandstands at 5:30 pm with racing at 7:15 pm. Grandstand tickets are $20 for Adults, $5 for Juniors (6-12) with 5 and under free as always.

I-80 Speedway is located one block north of Interstate 80 Exit 420, halfway between Omaha and Lincoln. The Physical Address is 13909 – 238th Street, Greenwood, NE. For more information, visit www.i-80speedway.com or call (402)-342-3453. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
