I-80 Speedway adds second Lucas Oil Late Model race. It’s the GO 50

In 2011, I-80 Speedway introduced a new race to the racing world, the Silver Dollar Nationals. That first year was unsanctioned and it paid $25,000 to win, but it also offered race fans a number of new concepts. First, for the Super Late Models there was no time trials, but instead all drivers ran two qualifying heat races with each driver’s average starting position the same. The only other class involved was Todd Staley’s outstanding United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS).

In 2012, the late model portion of the race became sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA). When the Sixth Annual Silver Dollar Nationals goes down on July 21 thru 23 the 80 lap late model feature will pay a whopping $40,000 to win. The Silver Dollar Nationals has truly become one of the crown jewel events of dirt late model racing!

Well in 2016, Joe and Steve Kosiski have added another Lucas Oil Race. On Tuesday, May 24 the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series invades I-80 Speedway for a one-day $10,000 to win race. That race has been officially named the GO 50. Consider it a tune-up for the Silver Dollar Nationals. It means that area race fans will get another chance to see the best in the business; Davenport, Bloomquist, Owens, O’Neal, Pearson and the rest of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series regulars.

Racing with the Lucas Oil Late Models will be unsanctioned A Mods paying $1,000 to win and $120 to start.

Ticket Prices for the race will be $26 in advance (either on the I-80 website or by calling the I-80 office at (402)-342-3453 ) through Sunday, May 22 and $29 the day of the race. Individuals purchasing tickets in advance will be allowed into the grandstand one half hour earlier than other fans. Pit Passes will be $40.
