Danny “the Dude” Lasoski’s Road to Knoxville was lined with money. Checks for $5,000 and $10,000 to be specific as he swept the two features for the National Sprint League at I-80 Speedway during the $140,000 Road to Knoxville doubleheader.

On Thursday, July 30, Lasoski started fifth and had to battle with Jamie Veal to take the win. On lap 17, the pair wrestled lapped traffic with Veal going high and Lasoski diving low and taking the top spot. From that point on Lasoski cruised to the win. “Veal was doing a good job,” said Lasoski in Victory Lane. “He was running where I wanted to be. He got to a lapped car and got held up a little bit. Guy (Forbrook) gave me a good car. It was operating top, bottom or middle, it didn’t matter.”

Finishing behind Lasoski and Veal were Terry McCarl, Bill Balog and Willie Croft. Ian Madsen won the 25 lap ASCS National feature on Friday night taking the lead from Jeff Swindell on lap 21 and holding on for the win. Following Madsen and Swindell were Brian Brown, Don Droud, Jr. and Josh Baughman.

We had a pretty good car; Jeff just got away from me on the restart and I thought we were probably going to run second, but when he got in traffic, he got messed up by a couple lappe cars and I just made the most of it.” said Madsen in Victory Lane. “I’m very happy to get the win, just wish we’d performed a little better in the 410, overall it was a good night.”

On Saturday night, Lasoski’s job was much easier as a young fan drawing starting positions pulled the one for Lasoski and he lead the entire 30 laps on route to picking up a check for $10,000. Tim Kaeding, Ian Madsen, Terry McCarl and Brooke Tatnell rounded out the top five.

We have to thank that young man for drawing us the one pill.” said Lasoski in Victory Lane in reference to a young fian’s drawing of the pole position for him. “Track position was key tonight. The bottom was sticky and you had to stay there. Lapped traffic was pretty tough. Our team has confidence, but not an overabundance of it. We know it takes a lot of luck. When we roll into Knoxville, we will give it 100%.”

In companion ASCS action, “the Gasman” Jack Dover took the lead at the green flag and never looked back driving to the win in the 30 lap ASCS National finale. Following Dover to the checkers were Brian Brown, Jeff Swindell, Wayne Johnson and Ian Madsen.

I knew I had to do something, especially in lapped traffic because the track was too good so I knew those guys were going to be right there with me,” commented Dover. “I was able to move pretty quick, and luckily the track was good enough to move anywhere I wanted. The car was good, the Moss Racing Engine was great, and really just a good confidence booster going into the Knoxville Nationals next week.”

In modified action Jordan Grabouski won the 25 lap feature and first place money of $2,000 holding off Dylan Smith and Jesse Dennis for the win. Ryan Gaylord and Clint Homan rounded out the top five.
