Wake up Mack its time to go to work
The 2017 racing season will soon be upon us and that means Mack and his friends at I-80 Speedway will soon be back working at full speed getting things ready for an outstanding 2017 racing season.
Things kicks off at I-80 Speedway on Friday, March 31 with the first of two nights of the annual Spring Meltdown featuring the cars and stars of the Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA). Weather permitting there will be a practice on Thursday. March 30.
The following weekend (April 7 & 8) its the Bugeater Bash with the Nebraska 360 Sprints featured both nights. Then on Friday, April 21, the NASCAR Whelen AllAmerican Series weekly racing season kicks off. The Whelen All American Series will be in action most Fridays thru August 18.
Major events at I-80 include: the Bobby Parker Memorial on May 5, the GO 50 featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on May 23, the Charlie Clark Memorial on May 28 and the inaugural visit of the USAC Sprints to I-80 on June 2.
Of course in July its the marquee event of I-80 with the running of the Seventh Annual Silver Dollar Nationals on July 20, 21 & 22 paying $53,000 to win (special thanks to Imperial Tile Dist. Inc and Al Belt Construction) as well as a $10,000 to win USMTS feature (thanks to sponsorship from Moock Trucking and Wojo Painting).
The I-80 season finishes up with several special events including the Speedy Bill Memorial on August 25, All Star Sunday (Season championships) on September 3, the Midwest Fall Brawl on September 30 and finally the Cornhusker Classic on October 13 & 14. The Malvern Bank Super Late Models will also be featured at I-80 on June 2, June 30, July 20 & September 30.
