The Speedway Motors Cornhusker Classic is up next at I-80
I-80 Speedway will close out the 2014 racing season with the annual Cornhusker Classic. This year it’s the Speedway Motors Cornhusker Classic and will feature three nights of racing starting on Friday, October 10 and running through Sunday, October 12. The practice scheduled for Thursday, October 9 has been cancelled.
The Classic include a number of different classes, but has been the case the last few years it will feature the A Mods. Last year, Dylan Smith of Osceola won the first two nights in the Modifieds with Luke Wanninger of Minburn, Iowa topping Smith on the final night for the $3,000 win.
While the A Mods will once again be racing for $1,000 to win the first two nights and $3,000 to win the final night, this year a bonus has been added for all classes competing all three nights. In the case of the A Mods if a driver wins all three nights he receives a $3,000 bonus and if a driver wins two nights he receives a $1,000 bonus. Other three day classes with have bonuses as well.
A strong field of A Mods are expected including Kyle Berck, Dylan Smith, Jordan Grabouski, Jared Hoefelman and many more. One driver who is coming a long way to run an A Mod at the Cornhusker Classic is former NASCAR Star Ken Schrader of Concord, North Carolina. Schrader will be driving an all pink car in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Fans will be able to purchase a PINK ribbon for $10 put their name on the ribbon and have it put on Schrader’s car.
Other classes competing all three nights include the B Mods, ProAm/Stock Cars, Grand Nationals, Hobby Stocks and Hornets. The SLMR Series and the Nebraska 360 Sprints will be competing on Saturday, October 11 only. The Nebraska 360 Sprint Cars will be making up the Bobby Parker Memorial. The event will pay $3,000 to win and $350 to start.
Grandstand adult tickets are $10 on Friday, $20 on Saturday and $12 on Sunday or you can get a three day Grandstand pass for only $30 but it must be purchased online by October 7. If two of three shows are completed there will be no refunds. Juniors (ages 6-12) are $5 each day with Kids 5 and under free as always.
On Friday, Pits open at 3pm, Grandstands at 5:30 with racing at 7:15. Saturday and Sunday the pits will open at 2pm, Grandstands at 4:30 and racing at 5:55.
